We mounted a camera directly to a drifting race car using the GRABO PRO Brushless and the GRABO Attachment Plate. The objective was clear. Capture close, aggressive footage without clamps or adhesive mounts.
The Challenge: High G Forces and Constant Vibration
A drift run stresses mounting hardware in ways normal driving does not. Lateral G forces spike mid corner. Engine and tire vibration remain constant. Weight transfers rapidly from side to side. Body panels flex under load. Wind pressure increases with speed.
Manual suction cups depend on initial compression. As vibration reduces pressure, holding force drops. The system does not provide active recovery. Once suction weakens, the mount relies entirely on the remaining seal.
Why the GRABO PRO Brushless Performs Differently

The GRABO Attachment Plate converts the vacuum lifter into a rigid mounting base. Four anchor points secure the plate to the tool body, and multiple threaded ports accept standard camera hardware. This rigid interface reduces flex between the base and the camera rig.
The camera mount was bolted directly to the plate. This created a solid mechanical connection above an active vacuum base. The setup remained compact and secure. Mounting positions included door panels for side angle shots, rear quarter panels to capture tire smoke, hood placement for forward view footage, and roof placement for a high angle perspective of the run.
Performance During Drift Sessions
On track, the mount faced sustained vibration and rapid transitions. The chassis shifted direction quickly, and panels flexed under load. The active vacuum system maintained pressure throughout multiple laps without manual intervention.
The footage captured suspension movement under load, and aggressive steering input during transitions. The camera position remained consistent from entry to exit of each corner.
